The Human Body
The human body is built from organs, bones and muscles working together. Organs like the heart, lungs, liver and brain each do a specific job to keep you alive. The skeleton — 206 bones in an adult — gives the body its frame and protects the soft parts inside, from the skull around the brain to the rib cage around the heart and lungs.
Muscles pull on those bones to create movement, and some, like the heart and the diaphragm, work without you ever thinking about them. Below are the parts worth knowing, each with a fact to help it stick.
